finally...интервью!! это первое и абсолютно эксклюзивное интервью одного из участников группы SpineShank! ни одно издание после распада группы не в 2003 году не брало интервью ни с одним участником группы. из первых уст ударника группы Томми Деккера о всем что хочется знать людям не равнодушным к группе...

1) first question about Jonny Santos. why actually he leaves the band?

After we did the roadrage 2003 tour, things had gotten pretty bad and
we all knew that the end of spineshank was coming. it was a mutual
decision for jonny to leave the band. the only question was whether we
were going to continue as spineshank. we thought about it for a long
time and finally decided to let spineshank end and not try to beat it
into the ground. we went out on a high note right after being nominated
for a grammy.


2)after SpineShank he formed more "pop" rock band Temper, and then more
metalcore band Silent Civilian. what you think about this bands? do you
still friends with Jonny ?

havent heard too much of either band, Jonny
is a talented guy, im sure theyre very good.

3) How did you find your new singer Brandon Espinosa?

we found him through a mutual friend who was at our studio. we had
pretty much given up on finding a singer and were concentrATING on
producing and recording other bands. brandon came in and he clicked
with us right away. he is very young and brings a new perspective to
the new band

4)what you can say
about your new material and new band? why writing process took so long
time?

new band is good, much different vibe than ss. The writing process has
taken a long time because we took a lot of time off and werent sure if
we were going to pursue music anymore. we have just been working in our
spare time and playing music for the fun of it. we are finally getting
serious again. i would like to have a record out early next year.

5) I know that your new music will be diffirent from SpineShank, in what
style new band will be playing? when album or EP comes out?

more raw and angry. not metalcore by any means. very different than all
the other bands out nowadays. we dont have an old school metal vibe, we
dont rip off iron maiden or metallica, our songs arent 9 minutes long.
we write what we want. most of it is pretty fast and angry, but we want
to leave our options open to write any kind of song that we want. we
will not box ourselves into a corner or category.


4) can you announce line up of new band?

the band is rob garcia, mike sarkisyan Brandon Espinoza and myself.
mike rob and i have all been best friends for years and get along
great, we all have the same musical vison, so there is no reason to
stop playing together.

5)do SpineShank members have side projects?

Spineshank is dead. but
some of the members of the new band do have outside projects. this new
band is everyones priority and when everyone needs to cut everything
out, we will do that and concentrate on this soley

6)What or who would you say the you main influences? What type of music
do
you listen to? What's the last album you bought?

the beatles, motley
crue guns n roses, faith no more, slayer, machine head. dillingr escape
plan, every time i die

7)do you planned to release SpineShank unreleased stuff as another "rare
and demos" album?

no....spineshank is over. i am very proud of
everything weve done but it is time to move on and look toward the
future for us

8)with SpineShank you released 3 Albums. how can you describe the
writing
process that went into this albums?

painful!! it was hard because we
never saw eye to eye on anything. every song was like pulling teeth. it
is much easier now

9)what you can say about SpineShank song meanings ?

they were very
personal. i wrote about things that felt important to me. personal
struggles and failures. its just where i was mentally at the time. some
songs were about religion, addiction, or mental disorders. not exactly
positive things, but unfortunately life isnt all rainbows and puppys. i
just write better when it involves the darker side of things.

10)what is you main interests except music?

i am a computer geek, and i
watch too much tv

11)Can you describe a typical SpineShank show?

spineshank put
everything we had into our shows, they were very energetic and raw, we
never played to tape or click tracks, we were just 4 guys who went out
there and gave it everything we had.

12)what you can say About times when you , Jonny and Mark Sarkisyan
playing in Basic Enigma? where Spineshank fans can get Basic Enigma
material?

it was very ......basic! we were very into pantera at the
time, it wasnt very good but it was fun

13)Do you like playing the smaller venues better, or festivals?

i love them both. i think the music we have now will go over better in
a small club, where the intensity will not be lost. the new music needs
to be loud and in your face. a small sweaty over packed venue that is
too hot would be perfect

14)Which SpineShank song was your favorite to write and which is your
favorite to perform?

synthetic was the easiest to write....mike and i
wrote it in about 15 minutes...very simple song. height of callousness
was my favorite to play because it was intense and pissed off.

15)can you see future of SpineShank? maybe reuniting after couple of
years? or absolutely not?

it will never happen. like i said, there is
no need for us to live in the past. spineshank was a great time in our
lives and we accomplished more than i thought imaginable. but we broke
up for a reason, the band ran its course. i prefer to look back on it
as a good thing rather than beat it into the ground

16)Any thing else you would like to add? thank you to all of our
russian fans.
